A new Sailfish OS-running smartphone is coming soon, the mid-ranger Oyster SF
The family of the Sailfish OS is growing with new devices joining the tech arena running on the relatively young mobile operating system. We are familiar with the Jolla smartphones and the Jolla Tablet that are working on the Sailfish OS. Now a new phone is coming enriching the diversity of mobile devices that offer alternatives to the most popular OS, Android, iOS and Windows. Say “Hello” to the Oyster SF.
In terms of specs, the new handset is a mid-ranger. It sports a 5-inch screen and features an octa-core processor with MediaTek MT6753 chipset. The appearance of the smartphone doesn’t impress with anything unique, but it has a nice patterned back plate and a compact body. There are 2GB RAM that support the performance of the device. Storage-wise, the Oyster SF is coming with 16GB on board and the option to expand it via micro-SD cards.
The software is the most impressive feature of the handset – Sailfish OS is running out-of-the-box. The primary camera of the new phone is with 13MP resolution and it lies on the back. The secondary snapper is with 5MP resolution. The battery that provides juice for the handset is a 3000mAh cell. The Oyster SF is launching in Russia soon. Price and launching date are yet to be revealed. Stay tuned.
