Xiaomi Redmi 2 is the new entry-level smartphone provided with support for 4G LTE
The new addition to the very successful line of affordable smartphones Xiaomi Redmi (or Hongmi as it is popular in China) is here. It is named Xiaomi Hongmi 2 or with its popular name Xiaomi Redmi 2. The new smartphone has borrowed most of the specs from its predecessor. It sports a similar design with dimensions 134 x 67.21 x 9.2mm and 132 grams of weight. The screen of Redmi 2 is made by Sharp and has a 4.7-inch diagonal. The resolution of the display is 720p. The model supports color temperature adjustment. In the gut of the new phone is integrated a silicon with four quads ticking at 1.2GHz with Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chip with 64-bit architecture.
The specs include also 1GB RAM and expandable storage of 8GB. The Redmi 2 is announced with Android 4.4 KitKat and MIUI 6 user interface on top of it. The 8MP camera on the rear panel has very similar capabilities to the snapper of the original Redmi. It has OmniVisio sensor with f/2.2 aperture and 28mm wide-angle. The more modest camera is with 2MP and it is located on front. The handset supports two SIM cards and what is more impressive – each of them supports 4G LTE. It has features that support Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and QuickCharge 1.0. The battery of the Redmi 2 is a 2200mAh cell. It comes in few different colors, like yellow, green, pink, white and black. Pre-orders for the phone are already on. The launch date for the new mid-ranger is 9th of January. It costs the modest CNY 699 (around $113).
The introducing of the new budget smartphone is only the beginning of what Xiaomi has to offer. On 15th January we expect to see the next flagship named either Xiaomi Mi4S or Xiaomi Mi5.
