Android 6.0 Marshmallow is officially the name of the new update of Android coming this fall
Google made official its new sweet upgrade of the most popular platform for mobile devices at the moment – Android. The Android 6.0 Marshmallow was presented a few hours ago. The cute symbol of the update is the popular green mascot of Google holding a giant marshmallow.
The mobile giant revealed some of the mystery around the new update at the I/O developers’ conference in May. There was no doubt that behind the M in the name of the new platform hides something sweet, but Google managed to keep the mystery around the name until the official debut of the update. The mobile giant has just launched the final Android M Developer Preview update along with the Android 6.0 SDK. It brings updated permissions UI, better Fingerprint API with more advanced reliability and error reporting.
The launching of Android 6.0 Marshmallow is scheduled for this fall. Some of the features included in the update are: a native support for USB Type-C and the options for charging other devices, Android Pay, support for fingerprint readers, Doze battery saving and a lot more. While we are waiting for the Marshmallow to start rolling-out, those of you who have the Android M Developer Preview running on their devices will soon get the final update of Android M.
Have you tried the developers’ versions of the update? What are your expectations about the Marshmallow coming this fall?
