Samsung officially presented the flagship phablets Samsung Galaxy Note5 and Galaxy S6 edge Plus at the Unpack event in NYC
Rumors and leaks for the next flagships of Samsung, the Galaxy Note5 and Galaxy S6 edge Plus were building up the anticipation of users and heating up the atmosphere in the tech world. The big event Unpacked of Samsung usually happens in early fall during the exhibition IFA in Berlin. This year, however the company’s decided to surprise its users by introducing the next high-end stars in the mobile world a month earlier. Say “Hello” to the new flagships of Samsung – the phablet Samsung Galaxy Note5 and its extraordinary sibling, the Galaxy S6 edge Plus (Galaxy S6 edge+). Won’t keep you waiting, let’s start with the specs.
The new phablet of the Galaxy Note series is the successor of Galaxy Note 4 packed with advanced specs and capabilities. The new device is outfitted with a similar design to the flagship Samsung Galaxy S6. It is manufactured from metal and glass with fascinating design and thin side bezels. The predecessors of the phablet were distinguished with their stylish exterior and a rear panel made from plastic with faux stitching.
This year’s plus-size model of Samsung certainly stands out from the previous members of the Galaxy Note line. The screen of Galaxy Note5 is Super AMOLED with a resolution of 2560 x 1440p and 5.7-inch diagonal. The hardware integrated in the new smartphone is with eight cores and Exynos 7420 chip coupled with 4GB RAM. There are two options for the internal memory of the phablet – 32GB or 64GB. Before you ask for microSD slot – the answer is no, the model does not support this type of memory cards. Galaxy Note5 runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with TouchWiz on top.
The rear camera of the smartphone is with 16MP resolution, f/1.9 aperture, OIS and LED flash. The secondary snapper that is integrated on the front panel is a 5MP camera with f/1.9 aperture. The juice-provider of the flagship is a 3000mAh battery. Wireless charging and Fast Charging are supported. The connectivity capabilities of the high-end smartphone include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC and 4G LTE. It has a fingerprint sensor and supports stylus – the S Pen.
Samsung introduced four colors for its new phablet – Gold Platinum, Black Sapphire, Silver Titanium and White Pearl. The pre-orders for Samsung Galaxy Note5 are already on. The shipping in the US begins on 21st of August. The phablet will be released by the major carriers and retailers in different parts of the world. Verizon Wireless announced the price of Galaxy Note5. The retail price of the 32GB variant is $768 while the 64GB version costs $864.
