Sony officially presented the Flagships Sony Xperia XZ Premium and Xperia XZs and Two New Mid-Rangers at MWC 2017
The Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona brought tons of exciting announcements in the tech world. The Japanese manufacturer used the occasion to present two new flagships accompanied by two new mid-rangers. Say Hello to the high-end Sony Xperia XZ Premium and the Sony Xperia XZs and the more modest models, the Sony Xperia XA1 and the Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra.
Let’s start with the flagships.
The most impressive new gladiator on the mobile arena is the Sony Xperia XZ Premium. It sports a 5.5-inch screen, HDR with a resolution of 2160 x 3840 pixels. The corpus of the device is water and dust-resistance with IP68 certificate. The processor tucked in the Xperia XZ Premium includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip aka the most powerful chipset of the manufacturer until today.
The software pre-installed on the smartphone is Android 7.1 Nougat. In terms of memory, the flagship provides 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. There is a fingerprint reader integrated in the power button of some models that will go for sell in different markets worldwide. The main camera of the flagship is with 19MP with abundance of features. For instance, the camera has Motion Eye system with an incredible performance and the capabilities to scan images five times faster. The camera sensor has 19% larger pixels that capture the light better than ever. One of the interesting features of the camera is the Predictive Capture. It snaps four images when you are taking photos in motion to capture the perfect photos. The front facing camera is with 13MP with wide angle lens. The price of the new addition of Sony is not revealed yet. It is coming in the end of spring.
The Sony Xperia XZs is the second new high-end smartphone of Sony. In terms of specs the device is with slightly more modest specs and capabilities but have no doubt, it has a lot to offer to users. The phone boasts a 5.2-inch display, 1080 x 1920p resolution. The processor works with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip paired with 4GB RAM. It comes in two versions, with 32GB or with 64GB of internal memory. Xperia XZs runs on Android 7.0 Nougat as well. It features a similar camera to its sibling, a 19MP sensor with features working similar to the Motion Eye system. The selfie camera is a 13MP sensor. The phone boasts a fingerprint reader. It is outfitted with a water and dust-resistant panel. The launching of the Xperia XZs is scheduled for the next month.
Now let’s look at the mid rangers.
The bigger new mid-ranger of Sony is the Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra. It is provided with a 6-inch screen, 1080p resolution with very thin bezels. It has a 23MP primary camera and a 16MP front-facing snapper with OIS and 23mm wide angle lens. On the inside is included an octa-core CPU with MediaTek Helop P20 chip. It runs on Android Nougat and features 4GB RAM.
Sony Xperia XA1 is a 5-incher with 720p resolution of the screen. It sports very similar specs to its larger sibling in terms of processor, cameras and software. It features 3GB RAM and a battery with 2300mAh capacity.
