ASUS introduced a new handset and a portable power bank
The first week of February brought a new smartphone from ASUS along with a new accessory – a portable power bank. ASUS ZenFone C is a budget handset that can be purchased for around $95 in its home country – Taiwan. As expected the phone features low-end specs. It sports a compact panel that measures 136.5 x 67 x 10.9mm, 149 grams of weight.
The screen of the ZenFone C is 4.5-inch long at diagonal and boasts a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels. On the inside the handset is provided with a dual-core CPU with Intel Atom Z2520 chipset, ticking at 1.2GHz. In terms of memory, the storage in the phone is 8GB while the RAM is 1GB. The native memory is expandable. The pair of cameras is not among the key features of the ZenFone C. It is provided with a 5MP camera set on the rear panel while on the front side is located a VGA snapper.
The operating system that is running on the phone is Android 4.4 KitKat. It is customized with the authentic user interface of ASUS, ZenUI. The new smartphone supports the usual connectivity features. There is no support for LTE, but keeping in mind the low price for the phone, this is not a surprise. The battery tucked under the hood of ASUS ZenFone C is with a capacity of 2100mAh. The color options offered for the phone include white, red and black. The availability of the budget device includes Taiwan. There is no information whether the handset will be released outside the country.
The newly announced portable battery charger of the company is dubbed ASUS ZenPower 9600. As the name suggests, it boasts a capacity of 9600mAh. This means that the portable power bank can assure recharging of an ordinary mid-ranger three times. The accessory is expected to get released soon. It will be offered in multiple colors.
