New Flagships of Samsung, Say “Hello” to Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge Accompanied by the Gear 360 camera
There is no doubt that the two of the most eagerly anticipated devices to debut at MWC 2016 were the new generation high-end smartphones of Samsung, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and its extraordinary sibling, the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge. The rumors and leaks that were surfacing on the web throughout the last months gave us a pretty good idea of what to expect from the new flagships. Now we can say that the new models of Samsung did not disappoint.
Both, Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge share similar specs. They are outfitted with slim and impressive designs with waterproof cases (IP68 rating), made of metal and glass. The internals of the new flagships include the fast and powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip or the Exynos 8890 chip, depending on the market where the devices will be released. The assured RAM is 4GB. In terms of storage Samsung is giving two options for customers to choose from – either 32GB or 64GB. Users can add microSD cards that can expand the memory with up to 200GB more.
The new stars of Samsung run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the TouchWiz UI pre-installed on top. On the rear panels of the duo are placed 12MP main cameras with f1.7 aperture and a new Dual Pixel technology. The innovative tech improved the performance of the camera in low tech. Among the extras of the primary camera are also OIS, Motion Panorama feature and etc. The front-facing cameras are 5MP sensors in each device with f1.7 aperture. Both flagships feature a fingerprint sensor and support wireless charging. The connectivity capabilities of the models include support for Bluetooth, MIMO, Dual-band Wi-Fi, NFC, MST and of course, 4G LTE.
The main differences between the devices are in the designs, screen sizes and batteries. Samsung Galaxy S7 sports a similar design to its predecessor. It comes with a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED screen with a Quad HD resolution and 3D glass. The innovative feature is the Always On Display that displays notifications without draining out the battery. Speaking of battery, the Galaxy S7 works with a 3000mAh cell under the hood. The flagship is getting launched in Black, Gold, Silver and White colors. The pre-orders for the smartphones are already open. The price of the Galaxy S7 starts at €700 off-contract. The official launching is scheduled for March 11th. The early-bird customers who are pre-ordering the phones will receive a free Samsung Gear VR headset.
Samsung Galaxy S7 edge has the unique side curve as its predecessor. This side of the display has the capabilities to display certain apps and notifications. The phablet is outfitted with a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED screen with Quad HD resolution and 3D glass. The battery of the flagship is with a capacity of 3600mAh. The Galaxy S7 edge will be available for purchase at prices starting at €800.
Along with the flagships, the Korean OEM took the wraps off the Samsung Gear 360 camera. It is a gadget with 15 mp imaging sensors. The camera has the capabilities to record 360 degree videos with 1920 x 2840p resolution. Gear 360 takes 30MP images. It is outfitted with a 0.5-inch PMOLED display. The aperture of the sensors is f/2.0. The camera is IP53 certified. It supports Wi-Fi, NFC, Bluetooth and USB.
The weight of the device is 153 grams. Samsung Gear 360 is powered by a 1350mAh battery. How to enjoy the videos recorded with this device? The best way is with the Gear VR headset. The price of the Gear 360 is yet to be revealed.
