Alcatel Idol 4 and Idol 4S are officially announced at MWC 2016
The announcements of the new devices at MWC 2016 have already begun. Say “Hello” to the new additions of the Alcatel Idol line, the Idol 4 and Idol 4S. The smartphones are equipped with high-end specs and fascinate with slick designs, similar to the predecessors OneTouch Idol 3. Both new handsets have bodies made of metal and glass. One particularly interesting innovation in the design of the new generation of the Idol series is the presence of BoomKey. It is a physical button located on the side of the handset that has different functions depending on the app you are using…like camera, videos, music and etc.
Alcatel Idol 4 and Idol 4S can work in both orientations, horizontally and vertically. Both flagships of Alcatel run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box.
The more modest new device is the Idol 4. It is outfitted with a 5.2-inch IPS, 1080p display. Under the hood of the phone is ticking Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 chipset in a configuration with 3GB RAM. The device boasts 16GB of internal memory. A slot for microSD cards is included in the package. Idol 4 is packed with a 13MP primary camera on the back and an 8MP secondary camera on the front. It supports 4G LTE Cat.6. The new handset of Alcatel features a dual-mic noise-cancelling setup. It has dual 3.6W speakers. The battery of Idol 4 is with a capacity of 2610mAh.
The larger and more powerful new smartphone is Alcatel Idol 4S. It comes with a 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED screen. Under the hood of the handset is provided Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 CPU. It has 32GB storage by default. It can be expanded via microSD cards. The primary camera of the new flagship is with 16MP resolution. The battery that assures juice for the Idol 4S is a 3000mAh cell. The rest of the specs are the same as its sibling’s. The price of the Alcatel Idol 4 is expected to be around $280 unlocked. The Idol 4S should cost in the range between $400 and $500.
