Microsoft lifted the veil from a new tablet that has a great package of specs and comes at relatively affordable price. Meet the Microsoft Surface 3. It is outfitted with a 10.8-inch display with 1080p resolution. If we compare it to one of the more advanced members to the Surface family, like the Microsoft Surface Pro 3, the Surface 3 is smaller and less powerful. The new tablet features slick and durable magnesium design. It is only 8.7mm slim and weighs 622 grams (1.37 pounds). It has a three stop kickstand and supports stylus for “a pen experience that really sets Surface apart.

Microsoft Surface 3 is presented, coming in May

It works with a quad-core CPU with Intel Atom X7 chipset clocked at 1.6GHz. There are two variants of the slate that are provided with 2GB RAM and 64GB internal memory, and 4GB RAM and 128GB storage. The Microsoft Surface 3 runs on Windows 8.1. Microsoft revealed that an update to Windows 10 is planned, when the platform gets officially launched. The back camera of the model is with 8MP. On the front side is integrated a 3.5MP camera. Among the pre-installed goodies on the tablet are the Office 365 Personal suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, OneNote and PowerPoint. Microsoft has added 1TB One Drive cloud storage to the package for the tablet. In addition, it supports microSD cards for expansion of the memory. In terms of connectivity the Microsoft Surface 3 arrives with two versions – a Wi-Fi Only, and Wi-Fi and 4G LTE.

Microsoft is continuing its tradition to release abundance of accessories for its tablets that provide more fulfilling user experience. The Surface 3 can be used with Surface 3 Type Cover that is getting released in different colors. It has a trackpad with improved functionality and a responsive keyset. There are four color options for the Surface Pen. The accessories include Surface 3 Docking Station for easy connecting of the tablet with an external monitor etc. There is a Mini DisplayPort, microSD card reader and Micro USB charging port offered by Microsoft.

When is Microsoft Surface 3 coming to markets? The pre-orders for the accessories began yesterday (31st of March) through the official store of the company Microsoft will begin accepting pre-orders for the Microsoft surface 3 on 5th of May. It will be released by major US carriers, such as T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless. The price of the Surface 3 with 64GB Wi-Fi only is $499. The costs for the tablet with 128GB Wi-Fi-only are $599. Microsoft is yet to release the rest of the prices for the different versions of the new slate.
