Meizu MX5 is the new flagship equipped with a fingerprint sensor and high-end specs

Meizu finally unveiled the much anticipated flagship Meizu MX5. The new smartphone is an improved version of its predecessor, the MX4. It is outfitted with a metal unibody with dimensions 149.9 x 74.7 x 7.6mm, 149 grams of weight. The handset packs a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED screen with FullHD resolution and the protection of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top of it. The CPU provided in the model is true octa-core Cortex-A53 clocked at 2.2GHz with Helio X10 chip. The RAM assured in the Meizu MX5 is 3GB while the storage is in three options – 16GB, 32GB and 64GB out-of-the-box. Keep in mind that there is no microSD slot for cards on board, so expansion can happen via cloud. Software-wise the flagship arrives with Android 5.0 Lollipop with Flyme 4.5 UI with an improved interface and functionality.

The major snapper integrated in MX5 is with 20.7MP, f/2.2, laser-aided focus and dual-color LED flash to name a few of the advantages of the rear camera. It has the capabilities to record 4K videos and 100-fps slow-motion at 720p resolution of video. The camera boasts 6-element lens and it is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 as the display. On the front panel lies an impressive secondary camera with 5MP. It has a brighter f/2.0 aperture that promises an enriched performance in environments with low light. The battery of Meizu MX5 is with a capacity of 3150mAh. The smartphone supports dual-SIM and the good news is that both slots support LTE connectivity.

The flagship is armed with abundance of extra features, such as the fingerprint sensor mTouch. The feature is much improved than the previous models, especially in terms of security – special TEE security environment etc. The MX5 has also IR proximity sensor, Hall Effect sensor, gyroscope, compass and ambient light sensor. The smartphone works with mCharge tech that can recharge 25% of the battery of the handset for just 10 min. Meizu is releasing the flagship in several colors – silver, champagne gold and deeply grey. The smartphone costs CNY 1800 (around $290) for the 16GB variant, CNY 1999 ($322) for the 32GB model and $2399 ($390) for the handset equipped with 64GB.
