Three new smartphones join the Moto G family – Lenovo Moto G4, Moto G4 Plus and Moto G4 Play
The last year’s affordable smartphones of Motorola, the Moto G (3rd gen) were truly a success and that is why the anticipation for the next handsets of this line was growing rapidly. Motorola is now owned by Lenovo which makes us even more curious about the upcoming changes. The debut day for the Lenovo Moto G4 phones has arrived. Say Hello to the Lenovo Moto G4 and the Moto G4 Plus.
Motorola Lenovo is changing the good old fashioned size for the displays of the Moto G from 5-inches and 720p resolution to 5.5-inches and 1080p resolution. As expected the hardware configuration of the new smartphones is bumped with a double more powerful processor.
The Lenovo Moto G4 is powered by Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow which is one of the biggest advantages not only of the smartphone, but of the “G” line as well. Under the hood of the Moto G4 is ticking an octa-core processor with Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 chipset. It is coupled with 2GB RAM (modest, I know) but the price of the phone is making up for it.
In terms of storage, the Lenovo Moto G arrives with either 16GB or 32GB on board. A microSD slot for cards is included in the package, so expansion is not a problem. The camera integrated on the back panel of the Moto G4 is with 13MP resolution and a dual-LED flash. It is paired with a 5MP front-facing camera. Another really nice feature packed in the Lenovo Moto G4 is the 3000mAh battery that supports TurboPower fast charging.
The second new smartphone presented by Lenovo is the Moto G4 Plus. It comes in the same size of 5.5-inch and the same resolution of the screen, 1080p. The “Plus” stands for some improvements, such as a 16MP camera on the back with phase detection autofocus and laser autofocus. There if a fingerprint reader on the front panel. In terms of RAM, the Moto G4 Plus is outfitted with 4GB RAM while the storage is 64GB.
Both new additions of Lenovo are a fit for the Moto Maker customization tool. The releasing of the Moto G4 is happening first in India through the Amazon.in exclusively. The price is INR 13500 (around $200) for the Moto G4 16GB, INR 15000 (around $225) for the Moto G4 32GB. The Moto G4 Plus is expected to cost around $288 unlocked. It is getting launched this summer.
Meantime, along with the two new smartphones, Lenovo and Motorola presented the Lenovo Moto G4 Play. It shares a lot of the specs to its predecessor. The smartphone comes with a quad-core CPU with Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chip. On the rear panel lies an 8MP camera. The screen size of the Moto G4 Play is 5-inch with a resolution of 720p. The battery of the new phone is with a capacity of 2800mAh.
