Two new rugged smartphones from Kyocera, DuraForce XD and Hydro View debuted in the US

Kyocera is one of the companies in the tech world that always have something interesting to offer to mobile users who are looking for extra-tough and durable devices. The manufacturer unveiled two new smartphones. The Kyocera DuraForce XD will be released by the US carrier AT&T. The Kyocera Hydro View is heading to the pre-paid carrier Cricket Wireless.

AT&T is releasing the phablet Kyocera DuraForce XD (picture above) with a 5.7-inch screen with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The new handset is dressed in an extra protected case. Its rugged chassis is dust, water and shock-resistant. It meets the MS810G standards for durability against extreme temperatures, water, vibration and etc. The screen of the phone is an impact-resistant touchscreen. Under the hood of the large-size smartphone is working a quad-core processor in a configuration with 2GB RAM and Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chip. The native storage included in the DuraForce XD is 16GB. The device supports microSD cards for expansion. It is LTE-enabled. The battery integrated in the rugged phablet is with 3700mAh.

The mobile operator starts selling the Kyocera DuraForce XD on January 8th. AT&T will offer it with two-year contract for $49.99. Other options for buying the smartphone are with the plans: AT&T Next 24 that includes 30 payments of $14.97 monthly or with the plan of 20 payments, $13.50 each month.

Kyocera DuraForce XD and Hydro View are unveiled

The second new smartphone of the company is the Kyocera Hydro View. It will be available at Cricket Wireless on 8th of January at a price of $79.99. The Hydro View sports more modest specs than its sibling. It is packed with a 5-inch screen with a resolution of 540 x 960p. It is water and dust-resistant and boasts a rugged panel. The Wet Touchscreen tech used for the display enables users to work with the smartphone with wet fingers. The processor that powers the Kyocera Hydro View is with four cores and Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 chipset. It is coupled with 1GB RAM. The phone boasts 8GB internal memory by default. Users have the option to use microSD cards for expansion. The battery of the rugged smartphone is a 2160mAh cell. The entry-level handset features a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front-facing shooter. It supports 4G LTE connectivity.
