The first smartphone of Kodak, the mid-ranger Kodak IM5 goes for sells in the Netherlands
CES 2015 in Las Vegas six months ago became the stage of big announcements. One of the extraordinary new devices that were introduced at the event was the first smartphone of Kodak named Kodak IM5. The launching of the handset was scheduled for this spring in the UK, however in some reasons the phone was not released as planned.
The good news from the last days is that Kodak IM5 is finally ready to hit the markets. It is getting launched in the Netherlands at price of €280 off contract commitment. The smartphone is available for purchase in local retailers and the main carriers in the country. In summary the specs of the Kodak IM5 include a 5-inch screen with 720p resolution. Kodak has pre-installed its own user interface over Android 4.4 KitKat. Later on the smartphone will be upgraded to Android 5.0 Lollipop.
The processor that is working in the device is octa-core 1.7GHz with MediaTek MT6592 chip and 1GB RAM. It is provided with 8GB native storage that can be expanded. Perhaps the most curious part of the specs of Kodak IM5 is the duo of cameras as the company is known for its cameras. The sensor on the back of the phone is with 13MP. It supports relatively little manual control but offers possibilities for easy sharing and printing. The front-facing camera is with 5MP. The first smartphone of Kodak works with a 2100mAh battery.
The expected price for the handset was lower than the actual retail price of the device. We will wait and see whether Kodak IM5 has the potential to draw the interest of users.
