Sony Xperia Z5 Premium with a 4K display and Xperia Z5 Compact debut at IFA 2015

Sony Xperia Z5 Premium and Sony Xperia Z5 Compact are the two variants of the original flagship that have a lot to offer to users. They were unveiled at IFA 2015 in Berlin.

Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is officially the first smartphone in the tech world that is equipped with a screen with 4K resolution. It is slightly bigger than the Xperia Z5 and comes with a 5.5-inch IPS Triluminos display with a resolution of 2160 x 3840p. The pixel density is the mind-blowing 806ppi. Needless to say the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium delivers an exceptional clarity of the picture and provides the most fulfilling visual experience for users. In terms of design, the premium variant of the flagship sports a similar design. It is water- and dust-resistant with IP68 certificate. The phablet is outfitted with a fingerprint sensor in the power button. The CPU that is armed in the Xperia Z5 Premium is with eight cores and Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chip. It is coupled with 3GB RAM. The storage by default in the smartphone is 32GB. Thanks to the provided microSD slot the memory can be expanded with up to 200GB. Sony Xperia Z5 Premium runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop pre-installed and customized with the Xperia UI.

The primary camera is also among the features that make the flagship so fascinating. It is provided with an Exmor RS sensor courtesy of Sony with 1/2.3-inch aperture and a resolution of 23MP. There are plenty of features and capabilities of the camera that are worth attention, but we will share just a few, like the improved ISO, the possibility to record 4K video, SteadyShot tech, Active Mode and much more. The autofocus is 0.03 seconds, which is ultra-fast. The camera has 5x digital zoom. On the front panel is integrated the much more modest snapper for selfies and video calls with 5MP resolution, Exmor R sensor and 25mm wide-angle lens. The cell integrated beneath the surface is with a capacity of 3430mAh. The smartphone supports a great abundance of connectivity features including 4G LTE Cat.6. The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium will be offered in single-SIM and dual-SIM variants. The color variations of the flagship are Gold, Black and Chrome. It will be available for purchase in just a few weeks from now at a retail price of €800.

Last, but not least new flagship of Sony is the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact. It is smaller in size compared to the original Sony Xperia Z5. It borrows most of the specs of its bigger brother. With Xperia Z5 Compact you are getting a lot of the goodies of the new generation flagships of Sony packed in a compact shell. The screen of the smartphone is with 4.6-inch diagonal with a resolution of 720p. The difference in the hardware between the Xperia Z5 Compact and the larger flagships is the provided RAM – here it is 2GB instead of 3GB. The fingerprint sensor, the cameras and the storage of the handset are the same equipped with the Xperia Z5. The battery of the small flagship is with a capacity of 2700mAh. It is getting launched in more colors than its siblings – coral, graphite black, yellow and white. The price of Sony Xperia Z5 Compact is €600 off-contract.
