Huawei Mate S debuts at IFA 2015, equipped with a 5.5-inch display with Force Touch tech
Tech fans from all over are enjoying one of the biggest events dedicated to everything happening on the mobile arena – IFA in Berlin. Lots of companies have the tradition to introduce their new devices and achievements in tech at the event. This year is not an exception. Abundance of news and announcements are coming up. Let’s start with the Chinese manufacturer Huawei. One of the new smartphones that made its official debut at IFA 2015 is Huawei Mate S. In the end of August a leak with renders and the alleged specs of the device appeared on the web.
The handset sports an AMOLED display with 5.5-inch diagonal and FullHD resolution. It looks like a shrinked version of the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 flagship. It fascinates with a slick metal body with a slight curve and a thin panel that measures 149.8 x 75.3 x 7.2mm. The new smartphone boasts “a screen color saturation of 105 percent.” The more special about the display is the Force touch sensor for advanced control over the device. The screen is protected by 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 4 on top.
On the inside the Huawei Mate S is powered by a dual quad-core silicon with Kirin 935 chip clocked at 2.2GHz. The handset comes in two variants in terms of memory. The Standard Huawei Mate S works with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage while the Premium model is outfitted with 64GB internal memory. Further in the year will be released a variant with 128GB storage on board. Software-wise the Mate S runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop customized with EMUI 3.1. On the rear side of the new flagship lies a 13MP BSI sensor with an RGBW array. It has f/2.0 lens, OIS and dual-LED flash. The last part of the camera module is made of Sapphire crystal that makes it tougher and more resistant to scratches.
The front panel hosts the selfie camera with 8MP resolution, f/2.4 aperture and LED flash. Among the extra features equipped in the new smartphone is the fingerprint sensor on the back.
The battery of the Huawei Mate S is with a capacity of 2700mAh. In terms of connectivity, the handset supports LTE, Wi-Fi, 3G, GPS and NFC. It is a dual-SIM device. There will be three color versions available to buy – Mystic Champagne, Luxurious Gold and Titanium Grey. The launch date of Huawei Mate S is 15th of September. The Standard version costs €649 off-contract while the retail price of the Premium model is 699€.
