The new smartphone and smartwatch Alcatel OneTouch GO Play and OneTouch GO Watch are announced

Alcatel arrived in Berlin for IFA 2015 with a wide range of new devices – a tablet, a smartwatch and a few smartphones made their official debut at the big event. Let’s begin with the new additions of the GO line of Alcatel. Say Hello to the new smartphone Alcatel OneTouch GO Play and the smartwatch that accompanied it – Alcatel OneTouch GO Watch. Both devices are purposed for active users who are looking for rugged mobile gadgets that can survive more than a few splashes.

Alcatel OneTouch GO Play is outfitted with a rugged panel with IP67 certificate. It is dustproof, waterproof and shockproof. Alcatel reveals that the primary camera of the smartphone can work under water. In terms of specs, the OneTouch GO Play comes with a 5-inch, 720p display. It is powered by a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.2GHz in configuration with Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset. It has 1GB RAM on board and just 8GB of storage by default that fortunately can be expanded. The above mentioned primary camera of OneTouch GO Play is a 8MP rear sensor. The smartphone features a secondary camera with 5MP on the face side. In terms of software, the new handset runs on Android Lollipop out-of-the-box. The battery in the belly of the smartphone is a 2500mAh cell. It comes in different colors. Price and availability are not revealed yet.

Alcatel OneTouch GO Play and OneTouch GO Watch are revealed

The more interesting device of both new members of GO is the smartwatch Alcatel OneTouch GO Watch. It is a rugged gadget with waterproof, shockproof and dustproof characteristics. The timepiece has a circle watch face. It sports a 1.22-inch LCD display with 240 x 240p resolution. It is powered by a 180MHz Cortex-M4 CPU. The battery of the OneTouch GO Watch is with a capacity of 225mAh. The timepiece is running on a proprietary OS (not Android Wear). The wearable gadget is compatible with iOS 7 and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean running devices. Some of the extra features that are provided in the new smartwatch include a heart rate sensor, a vibration motor for notifications, an accelerometer and a gyro sensor.
