Asus took the wraps off the second Tango smartphone, the Asus Zenfone AR and the Zenfone 3 Zoom at CES 2017
Asus brought two new impressive smartphones in Las Vegas to present at CES 2017. The Asus Zenfone AR and the Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom debuted at this year’s event and they will launch later this year.
The Zenfone AR is the second Tango smartphone ever released in the tech world after the Lenovo Phab2 Pro. The Tango project is the augmented reality (AR) system of Google. The Zenfone AR is running on the newest upgrade of the Google’s OS platform, Android 7.0 Nougat. That means that the phone also supports the Google’s VR functionality, the Daydream.
The specs of the Asus Zenfone AR include a 5.7-inch AMOLED QHD display. It arrives with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chip on board paired with 8GB RAM. On the back of the new flagship is outfitted a 23MP Sony IMX318 sensor with plenty features, like OIS and 4K video capabilities. The camera setup includes also a fisheye depth-sensing camera and a motion tracking camera. The Zenfone AR is expected to go for sell in the second quarter of the year. The price is still unknown.
Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom
The second smartphone unveiled by Asus at CES 2017 in Las Vegas is the Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom. The key feature of the device is its extraordinary primary camera with optical zoom. The camera setup includes a dual-camera with 2.3x optical zoon. The photos stand out with a great focus on the subject and blurred background for a better contrast. There are two 12MP sensors, one of them is with wide-angle 1/2.5-inch unit with f/1.7 aperture. The cameras have 1.4nm pixels as well as OIS and the capabilities to capture 4K video. There are three focusing modes: laser, continues and Dual Pixel phase detection.
The rest of the specs of the Zenfone 3 Zoom include a 5.5-inch display with 1080p resolution. It is powered by a Snapdragon 625 chip and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. The battery of the phone is with a capacity of 5000mAh. The camera-focused smartphone is getting launched in February. Stay tuned for the price.
