BQ Aquaris E5 HD Ubuntu Edition is the second Ubuntu-powered smartphone of the company
Back in February the OEM BQ presented the first Ubuntu-powered smartphone, the entry-level BQ Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition. Less than 6 months later the company is introducing its successor, the BQ Aquaris E5 HD Ubuntu Edition. Just like its predecessor, the new device sports similar specs to the currently available BQ Aquaris E5 HD.
The new addition of BQ comes with a 5-inch display with a resolution of 720p. Just for comparison, the Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition sports smaller screen with 4.5-inch diagonal and 5430 x 960p resolution. In the gut of Aquaris E5 HD Ubuntu Edition is working a quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz with MediaTek chip. In the configuration are included 1GB RAM and 16GB native memory. It is provided with 13MP primary camera on the back with dual-LED flash and the capabilities to record 1080p video. On the front-facing panel lies 5MP snapper.
The software pre-installed on the handset is one of the newest mobile platforms in the digit world, Ubuntu OS. BQ Aquaris E5 HD Ubuntu Edition is a dual-SIM smartphone. It is getting released in Europe later this month at price of €199.90 ($223) off-contract. The connectivity capabilities of the model include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and 3G. 4G LTE is not supported by the device.
