The Canadian OEM BlackBerry confirmed that BlackBerry Priv is BlackBerry Venice powered by Android
Rumors and speculations about BlackBerry Venice have been surfacing on the web since spring. The most discussed information about the upcoming smartphone was the platform. Rumors have it that BlackBerry Venice is running on Android, but many were skeptical about the gossips. As we always say, remain open for surprises until the manufacturer reveals more on the topic. Well, BlackBerry just did! BlackBerry Venice will be named BlackBerry Priv and it really runs on Android.
CEO John Chen officially confirmed that Priv will be the first Android-running device of the company. According to the manufacturer the BlackBerry Priv “combines the best of BlackBerry security and productivity with the expansive mobile application ecosystem available on the Android platform.” It sports a stylish design slider with QWERTY keyboard.
The rumored screen of BlackBerry Priv is 5.4-inch with a resolution of 2560 x 1440p. It is powered by a hexa-core CPU with Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset paired with 3GB RAM. Among the features of the unannounced device is an 18MP primary snapper on the back with dual-LED flash. It has a secondary camera with 5MP. BlackBerry Priv is getting launched at the end of the year, most likely in November. It has been a long time waiting for the device since the MWC in March 2015 when the model was first mentioned.
