Archos announced three mid-ranged LTE-enabled tablets from the Helium line and Archos 50 Diamond handset ahead of CES 2015
Just like Alcatel the French manufacturer Archos presented some of the new devices that will be properly showcased at CES 2015. The first new addition is the smartphone Archos 50 Diamond. It comes with a 5-inch 1080 IPS screen which makes it ‘the best 4G smartphone ever under £200’ as the company refers to it. The handset is powered by an octa-core CPU with 2GB RAM. It has 16GB native memory. The phone supports 4G LTE connectivity. It has a 16MP camera on the back. More details about Archos 50 Diamond will be revealed at CES 2015.
Three new tablets are expanding the Helium line. All of them sport similar specs and support for 4G LTE connectivity which is a great feature for affordable slates. The names of the new tablets are Archos 70 Helium 4G, 80b Helium 4G and 101 Helium 4G. You have probably guessed already that the numbers in the names give clues for the sizes of the devices.
Archos 70 Helium 4G sports a 7-inch IPS screen, 1024 x 600p resolution. A quad-core 1.5GHz processor with MediaTek MT8732 chip is equipped in the device working with 1GB RAM. Only 8GB internal memory are provided in the device but it supports the usage of microSD cards, so adding more memory is beyond easy. It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box. There are two cameras provided on Archos 70 Helium 4G – a 2MP rear sensor with LED flash and a 0.3MP standing on the front panel. The tablet is powered by a 2500mAh cell. It supports LTE.
The two bigger additions to the Helium series are equipped with similar specs. The Archos 80b Helium 4G has a 8-inch IPS glass with 800 x 1280p resolution. It works with a 3600mAh battery. Apart from that the Archos 80b Helium 4G has the same specs as the 70 Helium 4G.
The largest tablet from the trio is Archos 101 Helium 4G packed with a 10.1-inch IPS display with 800 x 1280p. It has better cameras compared to its siblings – a 5MP snapper on the back and a 2MP camera on panel with the screen. The battery of the slate is a large 6500mAh cell. All the rest specs are the same as the 70 Helium 4G’s.
There are rumors that along with Archos 50 Diamond the company will present ‘a full range of 4G smartphones’ at the upcoming event. Stay tuned to learn more soon.
