One of the most rumored phablets in the last weeks is the flagship Huawei Mate 8. The waiting ends now as the Chinese manufacturer finally unveiled the high-end large-sized smartphone. Huawei Mate 8 is outfitted with a 6-inch FHD IPS screen. The panel of the phablet is made of aerospace-grade aluminum with a 2.5D curved glass on the front side. It sports dimensions of 157.1 x 80.6 x 7.9 mm and 185 grams of weight. The model features an elegant design with ultra-slim side bezels.

In its belly is provided an octa-core processor with the powerful Kirin 950 chip and Mali T880MP4 GPU for the graphics. The processor consists of quad-core Cortex-A72 ticking at 2.3GHz and quad-core Cortex-A53 clocked at 1.8GHz.

The hardware configuration of the Huawei Mate 8 includes also an i5 processor. Its purpose is to support speech recognition, low-power consumption MP3, all the functions of a sensor hub, fused location provider (FLP) navigation, and reduces location-based power consumption.” Theprimary camera of the plus-sized smartphone lies on the back plate. It is a 16MP Sony IMX298 sensor paired with an 8MP snapper for selfies. The primary camera has f/2.0 aperture, OIS and a dual-tone flash. The front-facing camera has f/2.4 aperture. The back side of the phablet hosts a fingerprint sensor just below the camera module. Software-wise the Huawei Mate 8 arrives with Android 6.0 Marshmallow running out-of-the-box. It is customized with the EMUI 4.0 OS courtesy of Huawei. The battery of the flagship is a large cell with a capacity of 4000mAh.

The new addition of Huawei supports Wi-Fi, GPS, 3G, Bluetooth, NFC and 4G LTE. It also supports Quick Charging tech and has dual-SIM capabilities. The Chinese manufacturer is releasing a few variations of the phablet. In terms of RAM and storage, the Mate 8 is getting launched with 3GB/32GB, 4GB/64GB and the whooping 4GB/128GB. In terms of colors, the flagship fascinates in Champagne Gold, Space Gray, Mocha Brown and Moonlight Silver colors.

Huawei Mate 8 is getting released on 9th of December only in China for now. The phablet will be available on more markets in the beginning of the next year. The prices of the models are the following:

  • 3 GB RAM + 32 GB storage – $469
  • 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage – $579
  • 4 GB RAM + 128 GB storage – $688
